Dynamic fluctuations in foreign language enjoyment during cognitively simple and complex interactive speaking tasks

Despite evidence on the interaction between cognitive individual differences (IDs) and task complexity, our knowledge of how affective IDs, such as foreign language enjoyment (FLE), interact with complexity other factors is limited. Since tasks activities were found by Dewaele MacIntyre (2014) to be most relevant FLE, since might learners’ perceptions difficulty, it important investigate impacts FLE changes. Informed complex dynamic systems theory, this study employed a mixed-methods multiple case design patterns causes high low arousals. The participants four pairs Taiwanese high-intermediate EFL university students who engaged in simple or storytelling speech acts refusals. speakers’ interactions triangulated an learner’s rating per-second scale stimulated recalls.
